Treatment of Mother and Babies
In this modern day and age children are getting larger due to changes in our diet in the last 50 to 60 years. And often it is found in our Clinic that the back or pelvic pain is a very common pain during pregnancy and is due to take place with 70 % of pregnancies. This is due to the fact that our modern lifestyle coupled with sudden weight gain as the baby is increasing in its size in the womb can cause a sudden and unexpected pressure particularly in the pelvic region. Much of this increased pressure is due to changes during the pregnancy but also due to weakened postural muscles. These weakened muscles can be a product of our modern lifestyle or sitting down a lot, much of our daily life involves sitting down a lot whether it be in our jobs or whether it be in commuting so we then have this increased pressure with a lack of postural strength which causes an anterior tilt of the pelvis and this results in an increased arch greater than the norm causing hyper lordosis or an excessive arch of the lower back. Now over time this increases the pressure through the joint surfaces of the lower back causing significant pain. And coupled with this we then have changes in hormone levels causing elasticity. This can also create the cause instability in the spine particularly in women with underline weakness in abdominal or pelvic region.
